[Book Review] Tuesdays with Morrie - Mitch Albom

Live every single moment of life, without any remorse or guilt, with just the pride in the way you lived.  What if you could meet someone who is wise enough to teach you life lessons and has understood you much more than you yourself have? It could be an old friend, a grandparent or a mentor. The author, Mitch Albom, was lucky to get such an opportunity. If you have not got such a chance yet, stop worrying and read this book. Deadlines, promotions, assignments, projects, bills, family, money.... The list goes on and on. These are the things behind which we are running daily and try very hard to be happy and proud about it.  Amidst all these, sit back, relax and be a student. It might seem ironical, but this is what everyone of us is deprived of. Rating: 😊😊😊😊

Give and Let Give

Do we really need to have something in abundance to kindle the thought of giving? Is the joy of giving proportional to its value? Does the thought of sharing cross our minds when we possess something which might be a dream for others? Why is it so difficult to give away things which we know can easily be afforded by us? Are we selfish, frugal or evil? Isn't being empathetic a vital part of us? Don't you feel anything doesn't serve its purpose at the right time is equal to being non-existent? Isn't it a blessing to look at someone smile and know that you are one of the reasons for it? Finding solace in others' happiness is the most valuable gift one can give themselves. Hope you now know what to do when you want to treat yourself.

The Dynamic You

You are just a piece of paper, Without you, people are said to be poor. You travel everywhere around the world, Using you, everything is marked sold. Your abundance diminishes peace, On your shortage, life doesn't cease. Those who have less of you long for a little of you, Those who have more of you long for much more of you. Many think you are their life's key, You don't always bring happiness, they never see. Your presence gives them an attitude, In the end, they suffer from solitude. The rich never treat you with respect, You never would like it, I suspect. You never talk or laugh or soothe, They realize it the last time they breathe. You can never advice like a father, Nor can you worry like a mother. You cannot fight like a brother, Nor can you care like a sister. Never can you replace a friend, Whose affection will always transcend. Nor can you love like a wife, Without whom any man cannot thrive. You are just like an infatuation, Your...

Set an example - Not a bad one

It was a day to relax since it was a holiday. My mom and me had loads of plans for the day, which included a doctor visit and shopping. I was actually excited about the second part though. I had plans of booking a cab from my home. But you know, like all mothers, my mom didn't want to waste money and urged to go by bus. After a string of arguments, she won. Hence, I had to abide by it and we started walking towards the bus stop. It was an extremely hot day and after few minutes of waiting, I could feel beads of sweat trickling down my back. We could see a bus coming and hoped that it would be the bus which we were waiting for. But as the bus approached us, we realized that God had other plans. As it came to a halt, we and others waiting at the bus stop were covered with a humongous cloud of dust. I tried to cover my face with my veil and later realized its worthlessness. As the conductor blew the whistle for the bus to start, the sequence of events repeated. I was brimming with...

Perspectives of LOVE

Love is all about romance, they said, Love has no demands, I said. Love cripples on ego, they said, It's a part of life though, I said. Love is selfish, they said, It gives moments to cherish, I said. Love diminishes with distance, they said, It's all about persistence, I said. Love lets you down with burdens, they said.
